Director Level Information

You can also review Standard 20 of the In Service to Iowa: Public Library Standards, 6th Ed.

This is the level you will be awarded after you complete your endorsement coursework (Bronze or Silver Levels), or have submitted proper documentation of your advanced Library Science education (Gold Level) to the State Library.

Bronze

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of Director Endorsement coursework within 2 years of hire date

Silver

• Bachelor’s degree
• Completion of Director Endorsement coursework within 2 years of hire date

Gold

• Graduate degree in library or information science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program

In Workday Learning, you will be prompted to choose one of four electives from the director endorsement track to complete your staff endorsement:

• Policy Development
• Collection Management
• Budget & Finance
• HR & Volunteer Management

Complete the steps below to renew at your current Endorsement level:

1. Login to Workday Learning.
    
2. Download a copy of your Endorsement Tracker showing the number of hours required for your endorsement level. Click "Library Endorsement Tracker" under "Links" on the Learning App and enter your endorsement's issue date.
   • Directors renew with 45 CE Hours every 3 years
   • All other endorsements renew with 30 CE Hours every 3 years
3. Complete the online form below. You will need to know your current endorsement level to complete the form.

You find your current endorsement level by logging into Workday Learning. Click "Profile", then "Certifications".
